Sonya Chelliah, MD, joins
Tanner Primary Care of Carrollton.
As a primary care doctor, Dr. Chelliah specializes in family medicine, treating patients of all ages — infants to adults. She is also trained in managing a range of chronic health conditions, from diabetes to high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and more.
Dr. Chelliah earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. She completed her internship at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, and her residency in family medicine at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, Georgia.
In addition to her medical degree, Dr. Chelliah holds a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Barry University in Miami, Florida, and she is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s in biology and psychology.
She also has extensive experience working in a variety of clinical settings — including as a medical assistant in Teabeau House Assisted Living facility in Waycross, and during her externships in internal and family medicine at Bedford Medical Group in Brooklyn, New York; Somerset Family Medicine in Troy, Michigan; and Olivio Family Medicine Group in Chicago, Illinois.
At Tanner Primary Care of Carrollton, Dr. Chelliah joins Frederick Makori, MD, Emily Rooks, MD, and Holly Jackson, NP-C.
