Get Healthy, Live Well Hosts Educational Health Event at Carrollton Church

With funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Tanner’s Get Healthy, Live Well recently hosted an educational health event with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Carrollton, Ga.
In addition to Antioch, Get Healthy, Live Well has teamed up with four other local African American churches in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties to help raise awareness of health disparities by focusing on healthy living. The Saturday, May 23, event was full of fun, music and healthy activities geared to all ages.
Activities and education at the health event included:
- Yoga demonstration
- Healthy kids corner
- Healthy cooking demo
- Smoothie bike demo
- Tobacco cessation
- Clinical health assessment
- Diabetes risk assessment
- Community garden
- Behavioral health through Willowbrooke at Tanner
Nursing students from West Georgia Technical College were on hand to help out. It was a learning experience for them as well, related to aspects of community health and the initiatives of Get Healthy, Live Well.
