Hip Pain Education Discussion at Tanner Aug. 18
Monday, August 8, 2016
Those living with hip pain — or living with someone who does — can learn about the clinically proven, evidence-based care available for hip pain right here, close to home.
Jeffry Dressander, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and joint specialist with Carrollton Orthopaedic Clinic and a member of the patient care team at Tanner Ortho and Spine Center, will lead a free educational discussion on hip pain on Thursday, Aug. 18. The discussion will begin at 6 p.m. in Classroom 2 of the Health Education and Wellness Learning Center at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.
Dinner will be provided to attendees, and complimentary valet service will be available. Interested residents can register themselves and one guest for the free discussion online at www.tanner.org/hippain or by calling 770.214.CARE (2273). Seating is limited, and interested attendees should register soon.
Hip pain is one of the leading limits to mobility and independent living in the United States. It can stem from a wide range of causes, from trauma — such as a fall — to degenerative diseases like arthritis or simply from long-term wear.
Treatment for hip pain has come a long way in recent years. New alloys and instrument designs allow patients to consider hip replacement surgery at a younger age, as the artificial joints last longer. Also, new techniques available at Tanner — such as the anterior approach to hip replacement, which results in less pain, faster recovery and improved mobility because muscle tissues are spared during the surgical procedure — help patients get back on their feet the same day as their hip replacement surgery.
Dr. Dressander will discuss the full range of advanced treatments available for resolving hip pain, both surgical and nonsurgical alike. The session is part of Tanner’s Advancing Your Health Education Series, a series of free educational discussions from members of the health system’s medical staff.
