The space provides officers with a comfortable, indoor location to complete reports, sign paperwork and take a break.

In addition to supporting officers in their daily duties, the workspace offers residents and staff members added peace of mind through a visible law enforcement presence at The Birches, reinforcing a sense of safety and security within the community.

“This collaboration is about more than space — it’s about supporting those who keep our community safe,” said Joel Richards, chief of police with Carrollton Police Department. “Having a presence at The Birches gives our officers a quiet, professional environment for essential work, while also providing residents and staff members with the reassurance of seeing law enforcement on site at various times throughout the day.”

The on-site workspace allows officers to complete administrative tasks in a dedicated indoor setting, offering an alternative to working from patrol vehicles while remaining within the community they serve.

“Partnering with Tanner and The Birches gives us a place to focus on the job at hand without leaving the area,” said Matt Kenerly, lieutenant with Carrollton Police Department. “It helps us stay connected and accessible while carrying out our responsibilities.”

The partnership underscores Tanner’s broader focus on community well-being, safety and collaboration beyond traditional healthcare settings.

“This reflects our commitment to supporting the whole community,” said Wayne Senfeld, Ed.S., LPC, executive vice president of behavioral health and senior living at Tanner Health. “We believe in creating spaces that support not only our residents and staff, but also the people who serve the Carrollton community. We’re proud to welcome the Carrollton Police Department to The Birches.”

Tanner and The Birches on Maple continue to build partnerships that support the broader community, extending their impact beyond traditional senior living. This collaboration reflects Tanner’s ongoing commitment to safety, engagement and strong community partnerships.
