Tanner Hospitals Earn Top Patient Experience Honors

Tanner Health System isn’t just delivering great patient care, but top patient satisfaction, too.
Two of the health system’s hospitals recently earned top awards from Press Ganey, an independent firm that provides patient experience measurement, performance analytics and strategic advisory solutions for more than 22,000 healthcare organizations.
The 201-bed acute care hospital Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton earned a Guardian of Excellence in Patient Experience award for reaching the 95th percentile in patient satisfaction for ambulatory surgery.
Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, a 25-bed critical access hospital that is also part of the Tanner system, earned a Guardian of Excellence Award in Patient Experience for reaching the 95th percentile in patient satisfaction for outpatient services and a Pinnacle of Excellence in Patient Experience award for maintaining high levels of outpatient satisfaction for several years.
“More hospitals are turning their focus on delivering better care and creating a safer environment for patients,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “But the other component for a successful healthcare organization has to be patient experience. These awards mean that our hospitals are not only delivering exceptional care, but that our patients and their loved ones feel that they were treated with kindness and respect.”
The hospitals were among only five in Georgia to earn Guardian of Excellence awards, and Higgins General Hospital was the only hospital in the state to earn a Pinnacle of Excellence award.
Tanner Health System has also been honored this year as one of the 15 Top Health Systems in the nation by Truven Health Analytics, and each of its inpatient acute care and critical access hospitals — Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica and Higgins General Hospital, are ranked as Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission.
