Depending on your goals, our team at West Georgia Center for Plastic Surgery may suggest liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, during your initial consultation. What is liposuction? Liposuction is a fat removal procedure used in plastic surgery to slim and reshape areas of the body where fat deposits have not responded to diet and exercise. During lipoplasty, these deposits are removed from target areas, enhancing contour and proportion. The advantage of liposuction is that it can often be completed in a single treatment, and all the fat cells removed during the procedure are permanently gone. What can liposuction be used to treat? Liposuction can be performed — alone or with other plastic surgery procedures — to treat your: Abdomen and waist Buttocks Back Calves and ankles Chest area Cheeks, chin and neck Inner knee Hips Upper arms While the results for liposuction can be amazing for both men and women, it's important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss solution. It cannot be used to treat obesity or replace a proper diet and exercise. Additionally, it is not effective fore treating cellulite or loose, sagging skin. What does liposuction cost? Liposuction is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. Fee quotes are given at the time of consultation and begin at $4,725 for the first area treated, with approximately $1,500 for each additional area (depending on what additional procedures may be required). This includes the physician charge, facility fee, anesthesia fee, pre-operative visit, post-operative visits for up to three months, as well as dressings and garments.
