COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution - A Message from the CEO
Monday, January 11, 2021
We’re excited that the COVID-19 vaccine has become available. As we continue to vaccinate our healthcare workers, we look forward to providing vaccinations to our community.
Widespread vaccination — along with continued public health protocols, like wearing a mask, social distancing, avoiding gatherings and more — is essential to putting this pandemic behind us. At Tanner, we’ll take a leadership role in vaccinating our community. Due to limited vaccine supply, no public vaccinations are scheduled at this time.
Since the first vaccine approvals were announced in December, we’ve been committed to following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Georgia Department of Public Health, which is responsible for vaccine distribution in Georgia.
The first groups slated to receive the vaccine have been healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities. Now, we’re eager to expand access to more people.
The next group to receive the vaccine includes those age 65 and older, along with first responders, law enforcement and firefighters.
We are awaiting additional vaccine and state direction on expanding vaccinations to the community. Clarification is expected in the coming days and weeks as the state finalizes its plan.
We will keep you up to date on vaccination updates, information and vaccination efforts at
tanner.org/vaccine. There, you can also get information on how the vaccine works, the safety of the vaccine and its ability to protect you from COVID-19.
Thank you for trusting Tanner with your health.
Sincerely,
Loy M. Howard
