COVID-19 Vaccine Raffle Winner Receives $1,000 Prize
Thursday, August 5, 2021
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 may be climbing in Carroll County, but resident Julie Clarke is doing her part. And along with a dose of protection, she’s also $1,000 better off for taking her shot.
Villa Rica Councilwoman Shirley Marchman, Alfred Wilson of the Thomas Dorsey Birthplace Choir and the Rouse Foundation partnered to offer the $1,000 prize.
To be eligible for the drawing, Clarke received the first dose of vaccine during the Thomas Dorsey Festival in Villa Rica in June, then followed through with the second dose of the vaccine to become fully vaccinated.

Along with widespread vaccination, social distancing, wearing a mask in public and frequent handwashing are vital to protecting yourself and others from the spread of infection.
At Tanner Health System, the positive rate for COVID-19 tests is more than 17% — higher than the state average of more than 12%. About 90% of all COVID-19 hospital admissions and emergency department visits are unvaccinated, indicating that vaccine continues to be one of the best ways to prevent severe illness and death from the virus.
