Ambulance Drive Closure to Impact Traffic on Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Campus
Wednesday, June 8, 2016
Work to help improve the safety of patients at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton will also impact traffic on the hospital’s campus.
Beginning Monday, June 13, crews will close a portion of Ambulance Drive. A trench will be cut across the road to run electrical connections to the hospital from the central energy plant at the intersection of Ambulance Drive and Professional Place. The road will be closed at 7:30 a.m. that morning, and will remain closed for several weeks as work continues.
The central energy plant helps provide auxiliary power to the hospital in the event of an outage or other disruption in power supply. The auxiliary power, which activates within seconds of an outage, supplies electricity to medical equipment as well as other crucial systems within the facility.
The trench will be dug just west of the Ambulance Drive and Professional Place intersection. Traffic from Professional Place will still be able to access Dixie Street via Ambulance Drive. All emergency and ambulance traffic, truck deliveries and others must access the hospital via Ambulance Drive at Clinic Avenue.
