Empowering Families by the Spoonful

If you love to cook and have a passion for teaching others, volunteer with the Get Healthy, Live Well “Cooking Matters” program today.

We need volunteers to teach our Cooking Matters nutrition-based cooking class. Chefs, nutrition educators and class assistants share their time and expertise to lead hands-on courses that show adults, teens and kids how to purchase and prepare nutritious foods in healthful, safe and tasty ways.

Once scheduled, classes will be meeting weekly for two hours over a six-week period at various locations throughout Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties. Get Healthy, Live Well will provide the training, curricula, kitchen supplies and staff support. Opportunities for providing cooking demonstrations at community events also will be available.

Benefits of volunteering:

  • Make a real difference in the lives of people at risk of hunger and obesity
  • Gain teaching experience
  • Meet a new and diverse group of people
  • Do something new and have fun!
