Free Program Helps Kids Purchase Produce at Carrollton and Villa Rica Farmers’ Markets
Monday, June 1, 2015
Tanner’s Get Healthy, Live Well initiative is using funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to bring the Power of Produce (POP) Club, a nationally recognized program to empower kids to make healthy food choices, to Carroll County farmers’ markets.
The free POP Club program is for kids ages 4-12. After signing up for the club, every time they come to the Cotton Mill or The Market at the Mill farmers’ markets on POP Club day and participate in fun learning activities, each kid will receive $2 in POP Club Bucks to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmers’ market.
Kids may sign up and participate in the POP Club at these locations and days: Cotton Mill Farmers’ Market at 401 Rome Street in Carrollton – the first the third Saturdays of each month through September, from 9 a.m. to noon; and The Market at the Mill Farmers’ Market at 106 Temple Street in Villa Rica – third Tuesday of each month through September, from 4 to 7 p.m.
For more information, please stop by the Get Healthy, Live Well booth at one of the two farmers’ markets or visit our calendar of events.
