Georgia Trend: Tanner Hospitals Again Among State’s Best
Wednesday, November 26, 2014
The question of where to go for care continues to grow in importance as people increasingly see themselves less as patients and more as educated consumers of medical services.
Georgia Trend, the state’s leading magazine on business and economic development, published its annual list of the best-performing hospitals in Georgia, and all three of Tanner Health System’s inpatient hospitals — Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica and Higgins General Hospital in Bremen — are again represented on the list.
Higgins General Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital, is the No. 1 critical access hospital in Georgia for the third consecutive year, according to the magazine’s report. Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica earned the No. 6 spot among small hospitals and Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton was No. 8 among medium-sized hospitals.
The Georgia Trend list is based on publicly-reported quality and patient satisfaction data. The rankings are intended to help residents make a more informed choice on where to turn for care.
“Tanner has scored very highly in quality, value and satisfaction ratings for years now, and that’s no coincidence,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “We’ve worked for years to develop and implement improvements and protocols that keep us at the leading edge of care and quality. This is another example of Tanner being recognized for its commitment to the patients we serve.”
Tanner was named among the 15 Top Health Systems in the nation by Truven Health Analytics, which also named Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation for 2014. Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica were named to the 2014 index of Healthstrong Hospitals by iVantage Health Analytics, and all three hospitals recently placed on the Georgia Hospital Association’s Quality Honor Roll.
