Higgins General Hospital Auxiliary Chairman, Marcelle Johnson and Treasurer, Martha Greer presented a gift in the amount of $7,500 to support the Auxiliary Endowment at Tanner Foundation during its banquet on June 18.
Accepting the gifts was Brian Dill, Executive Director, Tanner Foundation (far left), who thanked the auxiliary for their dedication, hard work, and support. Jerry Morris, MBA, Higgins General Hospital Administrator, also thanked the auxiliary for their generous service to the hospital and the community.
“There are 25 volunteers here at Higgins including pastoral care, and 38 including your teens this summer,” said Jeanette Wheeler, Director of Volunteer Services, Tanner Health System. “You donated 4,985 hours this past year in service. If you were to put a monetary value on those hours, according to the independent sector value, it would be about $80,000. Thank you!”
In total, 350 volunteers support Tanner Health System, and have donated more than over 45,000 hours in the last year, at a value of $1.08 million.
In addition to this extraordinary gift of service, the volunteers make an annual gift of treasure to support Tanner’s patients and services. The $7,500 gift presented on June 18 was raised from the Reflections Auxiliary Gift Shop and special sales held throughout the year.
The effect of this generosity is felt by patients throughout the hospital. In 2017, all of Tanner’s volunteer services and auxiliaries established an Auxiliary Endowment at Tanner Foundation, ensuring the impact of their generosity will be felt for generations to come.
Including their 2018 gifts, the cumulative donations from the auxiliaries and volunteer groups across Tanner Health System to Tanner Foundation since 1989 exceeds $2.3 million.
The Higgins General Hospital Auxiliary is led by Chairman Johnson, Treasurer Greer, Johanna McClanahan, Janelle Morris and Darthy Cohran.
