Tanner Invites Cancer Survivors to the Fourth Annual Celebration of Life
Wednesday, February 6, 2013
Tanner Health System and Tanner Cancer Care are inviting cancer survivors from across west Georgia and east Alabama to the fourth annual Celebration of Life, a special evening of fellowship and entertainment, on Thursday, Feb. 21 in the Health Education and Wellness Learning Center at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.
Cancer survivors, regardless of where the diagnosis was made or treatment received, are invited to register themselves and one guest for the Celebration of Life. Seating is limited. Reservations are required. Please call 770.214.CARE (2273) to RSVP by Feb. 15.
“At Tanner, we are inspired every day as we watch people with cancer show unparalleled courage and commitment,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “Witnessing what people go through to overcome the disease is motivational to everyone involved in their care. We feel that conquering cancer is an achievement unlike any other. That’s why we’re pleased to host the Celebration of Life, an evening devoted to honoring and celebrating cancer survivors and their success.”
Sign-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and dessert will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The evening will include a special guest speaker, Sean Swarner, a two-time cancer survivor and the first survivor to climb the world’s “Seven Summits”—including the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. Swarner overcame cancer at a young age, diagnosed with different types of cancer at age 13 and 16. He had gone on to see the world and will share his experience of all life’s peaks and valleys.
“This event is a wonderful celebration for the patients and their families who have fought the battle with cancer and won,” said Howard. “For the healthcare providers who have been involved with these victorious patients, this is a very satisfying opportunity to see how their efforts have made a difference in so many lives.”
