Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Among ‘100 Great Community Hospitals’

Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton has earned a place among the nation’s top community hospitals.
Becker's Hospital Review has named Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton to its list of the nation’s "100 Great Community Hospitals," a list based on community hospitals' accolades, quality and service to their communities.
Only two other hospitals across Alabama and Georgia made the list — Gordon Hospital, in Calhoun, and Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Ala.
Becker's defined community hospitals as acute care facilities with fewer than 550 beds and that have minimal teaching programs. Some facilities featured on the publication’s list are in suburban areas near major cities while others are found in rural towns, serving as the only hospitals in their communities. The Becker's editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on rankings and awards from credible healthcare analytic firms, such as iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, CareChex, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the Leapfrog Group. Included organizations have earned recognition from one or more of these organizations.

In April, Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton earned an A rating for patient safety on the Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score, and earlier this year was included in Tanner Health System’s ranking among the 15 Top Health Systems in the nation from Truven Health Analytics.
