Tanner Health System has earned numerous distinctions in recent years for its quality of care and patient satisfaction scores, and now the organization has earned further acclaim as a great place to work.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named the health system among its 2016 “Best Places to Work.” Tanner placed 10th in the business periodical’s “extra large employers” category, comprised of companies with 500 or more employees.
Other extra large employers on the list included general contractor firm Brasfield & Gorrie, Delta Community Credit Union, Cricket Wireless and the InterContinental Hotel Group. Alpharetta-based healthcare staffing and technology firm Jackson Healthcare ranked No. 1.
Tanner previously ranked in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Best Places to Work listing in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2014. With more than 3,000 employees, Tanner is one of the largest employers in the region.

Each year, Atlanta Business Chronicle works in partnership with Omaha, Neb.-based Quantum Workplace to survey the metro area’s employers and find those that have discovered how to become one of Atlanta’s Best Places to Work. To compile Atlanta’s 2016 list, the newspaper asked readers to nominate workplaces in metro Atlanta. Nominations were accepted during the past year on the paper’s website.
Employees at participating companies and organizations were surveyed by Quantum Workplace from early July through mid-August 2016, answering questions about their workplaces that Quantum then scored.
Totaling 607 entries, Atlanta’s Best Places to Work list was the most competitive in the U.S., as measured by the ratio of honored companies to nominated companies. Award applicants were evaluated and ranked across four categories according to the number of Atlanta-area employees. This year’s results highlight Tanner’s employee satisfaction in a number of areas, including personal and professional development, workplace satisfaction and overall team effectiveness.
Quantum Workplace ranked the metro area’s top 100 employers in four categories: the top 10 among extra large employers, the top 20 among large employers (100 to 499 employees), the top 20 among medium employers (50 to 99 employees) and the top 50 among small employers (10 to 49 employees).
According to Quantum Workplace, top-performing organizations know that employee engagement drives business outcomes. Engaged employees are more productive, more profitable, more customer-focused, and more likely to stay.
