Tanner Salutes Nine Employees for 40 Years of Service

Tanner Health System recently recognized an unprecedented nine employees for 40 years of service to the health system.

The employees were recognized during an annual awards banquet at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, along with more than 180 other health system employees recognized for 10 years or longer of service.

Among the nine employees recognized for their four decades of service were: Ruth Cagle, an administrative coordinator in the Pre-Surgical Care Center (PSCC) at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton; John Daniel, director of the laboratory at Higgins General Hospital in Bremen; Brenda Hammock, a registered nurse on the 4 East unit at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton; Glenda Hammock, a registered nurse on the 1 West unit at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton; Ruthie Hodges, a nursing unit secretary at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica; Cynthia Strong, nurse manager of the pediatrics unit at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton; Tommy Trammell, a food production technician for the health system; Sharon Walker, nurse manager of the Maternity Center and the OB/GYN unit at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica; and Eloise Whitton, nurse manager of the surgery center at Higgins General Hospital.

“These days, it’s often rare to find someone who spends four years with a company, much less 40,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “It’s significant that these members of our team — as well as others we’ve recognized in previous years — have dedicated their professional careers to caring for their neighbors here in west Georgia. It represents Tanner’s commitment to be an employer of choice, and it illustrates that we are fortunate to live in a great region.”

Tanner’s annual employee awards banquet recognizes employees for their tenure with the health system in five-year increments, beginning at 10 years of service.

With more than 2,600 employees, Tanner is one of the largest employers in Carroll County. The health system has previously been recognized as one of the Top 100 Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, one of the Best Places to Work among large employers by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and one of the Best Places to Work in Georgia by Georgia Trend.
