Ablation

There are many reasons the electrical signals from your brain to your heart muscle can become distorted. Tanner Heart Care offers a non-surgical procedure called a cardiac heart ablation to restore your normal heart rhythm.

How cardiac ablation works

During a cardiac ablation procedure, your cardiac electrophysiologist will use a small wire inserted through a catheter (a small, hollow tube) to scar — or ablate — a small area of the heart that is causing the irregular rhythm.

This restores the heart’s electrical system so it can tell your heart when, how fast and how hard to beat to supply blood to your body.

Talk to your doctor if you have symptoms that might indicate an abnormal heart rhythm, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness and faintness
  • Fatigue
  • Heart palpitations or fluttering in the chest
  • Shortness of breath

Talk to your doctor to learn more about cardiac ablation.

The Snowball Effect of Overmedicating in Older Adults

Over time, new prescriptions can be added to treat symptoms or side effects from other medications — and the list keeps growing. This is known as polypharmacy, and while it’s common, it can also create unintended risks.
