Provider Star Ratings

Our star ratings represent an average score from the care provider section of our patient satisfaction survey. These ratings and verified patient comments help you choose a provider who is right for you.

Who receives a survey?

Patient satisfaction surveys are distributed to a random sampling of patients through email, mail and text message. Candid feedback helps us better serve patients.

For program integrity, patient satisfaction surveys are administered by a third-party provider.

Why don’t all providers have a star rating?

The star rating score is only available for Tanner Medical Group providers. Affiliated providers and hospital providers use a different survey and do not have star rating data available to publish. The lack of a star rating should not be construed as a negative reflection on their performance.

We also recognize that more feedback leads to better data. Providers must have at least 30 completed surveys before we publish their star rating and comments.

How is the star rating calculated?

The star rating is an average score of all the questions in the care provider section of our patient satisfaction survey. This section includes questions on topics like:

  • Concern the care provider showed for your questions or worries
  • Explanations the care provider gave you about your problem or condition
  • Care provider’s efforts to include you in decisions about your care
  • Care provider’s discussion of any proposed treatments and the risks, options, benefits, etc.
  • Likelihood of recommending this care provider to someone else

To protect patients’ privacy, surveys that contain personal health information (PHI) are not published.
