Mercer University School of Medicine at Tanner Health

Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) has partnered with Tanner Health to establish a new clinical campus in Carrollton, Georgia. Beginning July 2026, third- and fourth-year medical students will complete their core clerkships and advanced rotations at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and affiliated regional facilities.

This collaboration strengthens MUSM’s mission to prepare physicians to serve rural underserved communities in Georgia. Students training in Carrollton will benefit from hands-on experience in a high-quality, patient-centered health system while gaining insight into the unique challenges of rural health care.

Highlights include:

  • A dedicated medical education unit at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

  • A state-of-the-art simulation center for hands-on learning

  • Opportunities to train alongside experienced physicians across six core specialties

  • Clinical rotations in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, psychiatry and surgery

Meet the Carrollton Clinical Campus Leadership

Students at the Carrollton campus will be supported by a team of experienced Tanner Health physicians serving as clerkship directors. Each director provides mentorship, oversight and training in their specialty:

Yolonda Brown, clinical rotation supervisor, will support students on site with additional staff to be added over the next year.

Tim Paul, MD, senior vice president of medical affairs and chief quality officer at Tanner Health, will serve as associate dean.
